# TV Intelligentsia > TV Intelligentsia is the credibility layer for what to watch. A public methodology, two credentialed reviewers, every title scored 0-200 on a rubric across three weighted dimensions: Cognitive Stimulation (40%), Educational Value (35%), Craft and Quality (25%). Last updated: 2026-05-12. Database: 2204 titles (1986 adult, 218 kids). ## How we score IQ Score formula: `round((c * 0.4 + e * 0.35 + q * 0.25) * 4)` on a 0-200 scale. Tier thresholds: Masterclass >=160, Stimulating >=130, Competent >=100, Passive >=70, Numbing <70. Educational Value covers academic content, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, life skills, and knowledge transfer (not just academic). The kids vertical adds a separate SEL Score (0-50) based on the CASEL framework, reviewed by Cordelia Witty, EdS., NCSP (licensed school psychologist). SEL is displayed but does not affect the IQ Score. IQ Score is a content rating, not a measurement of viewer intelligence. ## Canonical surfaces (read these first) - [What TVI Is](https://tvintelligentsia.com/what-tvi-is/): the canonical 5-minute explainer.
