The credentialed reviewer behind TVI Kids

Cordelia Witty, EdS., NCSP

Licensed School Psychologist · Co-founder, TVI Kids
Education Specialist (EdS) Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) Licensed School Psychologist

Cordelia Witty is the school psychologist behind the TVI Kids ratings. Every children's title TVI scores is reviewed against the published methodology and the CASEL social-emotional learning framework, and the developmental judgment in that review is hers.

A rating is only as trustworthy as the person standing behind it. On the kids side, that person is a licensed school psychologist.

That is the whole point of the kids vertical. Most "is this okay for my child" content online is written by editors and aggregators. TVI Kids is reviewed by a Nationally Certified School Psychologist with an Education Specialist degree and clinical training in child development. When a TVI Kids page tells you what a show actually does for a child, that read comes from someone qualified to make it.

What she reviews

Cordelia provides the credentialed developmental review for children's content: the social-emotional learning value, the developmental fit of difficult material, the cases where a show earns its intensity and the cases where it does not. She reviews the methodology and the content, not individual children; TVI does not offer individualized assessment or clinical services. Her role is the trust anchor for the rating, not a substitute for a parent's own judgment or a relationship with a provider.

The work

She co-authors the TVI Kids Essential designations, writes the developmental briefs that accompany them, and shapes the co-viewing discussion guides. Her standard runs through the whole kids catalog: every score, every "is it okay for kids" answer, and every Essential carries her review.

You can read the rubric she reviews against on the methodology page, browse the kids catalog, or follow her at @cordelias.garden.
