TV Intelligentsia is the credibility layer for what to watch. It publishes independent scored criticism and decision guidance for film and television. It is not a critic aggregator, audience poll, streaming service, clinical tool, or measure of a viewer's intelligence.

A human reviewer who has watched the work assigns the score under TVI's published rubric. The accountable editor owns the final score and the evidence used to support it.

AI may organize notes, check arithmetic and consistency, assist with code, or support clearly governed research. It may not simulate a viewing, supply scene evidence, invent a quotation, or make the final scoring decision.

No. Cordelia Witty, EdS., NCSP is a licensed and Nationally Certified School Psychologist who shapes and reviews the TVI Kids methodology. She personally reviews and signs only the editorials, briefs, and TVI Kids Essential designations that identify her as their reviewer or author.

Her credential should not be read as a claim that she personally watched all 225 children's titles. Her canonical role and boundaries are published here.

No. TVI publishes a research-grounded editorial rubric. It is not a peer-reviewed research measure, psychometric test, clinical instrument, university-validated scale, or substitute for individualized professional judgment.

The methodology names its research foundations, formula, interpretation rules, and limits so readers can inspect the system rather than trust a vague claim of science.

No. The ratings describe properties modeled, represented, or invited by a work. They do not measure a child, diagnose a child, or establish that watching a title causes learning, empathy, regulation, or any other developmental outcome.

TVI can say a program depicts a skill, creates an opportunity to discuss it, or rewards a kind of attention. It cannot turn that content observation into a claim about what happened inside an individual viewer.

The current formula combines three 0 to 50 dimensions: Cognitive Stimulation at 40 percent, Educational Value at 35 percent, and Craft and Quality at 25 percent, then expands the weighted result to a 0 to 200 display.

The larger range makes distinctions legible across a large catalog. It does not imply psychometric precision, viewer intelligence, or a measured outcome. See the formula and tier rules.

Educational Value and social-emotional learning answer different questions. Educational Value is one dimension of the TVI Score. SEL is a separate TVI Kids rating built on the five CASEL competencies.

Keeping them separate prevents an academically educational title from being treated as a complete developmental description. TVI is preparing a versioned descriptive analysis of this distinction; it will not be published until its methods and construct language clear independent and credentialed review.

TVI is reader-supported. It accepts no studio payment, paid placement, or score influence and earns no affiliate commission on scores or streaming links. Screeners, tickets, festival credentials, and access do not guarantee coverage or favorable coverage.

Factual errors are corrected, dated, and logged. Substantive score changes are versioned rather than silently rewritten. Formula arithmetic is tested against the database, and recurring error classes are turned into automated publication gates where possible.

For a published data report, TVI will provide the public fields used, extraction date, methodology version, exclusions, analysis code, chart notes, and a correction date. Private user data, licensed assets, embargoed materials, and unpublished source notes are not included.
