The TVI Take

Sophie Goodhart's six-episode comedy puts a decades-long friendship under unbearable pressure when Alice learns that Steve has begun dating her grown daughter. Nicola Walker plays the betrayal as something closer to grief than outrage, and the show is sharpest when it sits inside the discomfort rather than reaching for a joke.

The score reflects strong central performances working against narrative choices that strand the chemistry and a cliffhanger ending that withholds the resolution the premise earns.
