IQ Score and TVI Essential are not the same thing.
TVI publishes one continuous score for every title in its catalog and one editorial designation for a smaller class. The distinction matters.
A continuous numeric framework.
Every title receives a 0–200 score from the published rubric: Cognitive Stimulation (40%), Educational Value (35%), Craft & Quality (25%). The score is mechanical. The score is universal.
A binary editorial designation.
A title earns TVI Essential when it reaches Masterclass-tier IQ and meets the editorial standard across the four pillars below. Editorial review by the Founding Editor is required. Most titles do not earn the designation.
The Four Pillars
What every TVI Essential title meets.
A TVI Essential grant requires a title to demonstrate distribution across the four pillars below. No single pillar carries the entire score. The mechanical filters set the candidate pool. The editorial review by the Founding Editor is the gate between candidate and grant.
Cultural Impact
The title has become a referenced cultural object beyond its own viewers. Its vocabulary, frames, or premises have entered the broader conversation.
Intellectual Substance
The cognitive and informational density of the work. The title teaches, demands inference, or rewards close attention.
Rewatch Value
The work rewards return engagement. Layered craft, structural reveals on a second viewing, density of detail that exceeds first-pass capacity.
Lasting Significance
The title's relevance persists across years and contexts. Distinct from Cultural Impact, which can spike and fade; Lasting Significance is the durability dimension.
What TVI Essential Does Not Mean
The designation is not a guarantee of personal enjoyment.
The inoculation paragraph
TVI Essential is not a guarantee of personal enjoyment. It is a designation of cultural significance, intellectual substance, lasting value, and craftsmanship density. A title can earn TVI Essential and still not be the right choice for your mood, your night, or your preferences. The designation tells you the title is worth your time. It does not tell you the title will feel worth your time to you specifically. That distinction is the entire point.
The Inaugural Class
The first canon.
The inaugural class is constitutional precedent. The first titles to earn TVI Essential establish the lens through which every future grant is interpreted. It is not a launch set. It is a worldview made explicit.

The Badge
A cultural artifact, not just a brand mark.
The TVI Essential badge is designed to live as a graphic object on streaming-app thumbnails, in creator videos, on press kits, in mocked stickers, and embedded on title pages where the designation has been earned. Three variants are produced: standard, rotated for hero placement, and a simplified small-size variant for sub-80px deployment.
