The TVI Take
Mahavir Singh Phogat, an amateur wrestler in Haryana, trains his daughters Geeta and Babita to compete in a sport their state's gender norms exclude them from. Aamir Khan plays the father; Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra learned to wrestle for the production, and the bout choreography is recognizably technique rather than movie-fighting.
The film tracks where coaching becomes coercion without resolving it, which is unusual for a sports biopic.
