The TVI Take
Baz Luhrmann assembled this concert documentary from sixty-eight boxes of long-lost footage of Presley's 1970s Las Vegas residency, including a forty-five-minute audio recording of Elvis narrating his own life. Rather than talk over the King, Luhrmann lets the restored performances and Presley's own voice build the argument about the distance between the man and the image.
The archival recovery itself is the knowledge transfer, which is why its educational dimension scores near its craft.
