The TVI Take

John McTiernan's 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger-anchored film about a special-forces team being hunted by an alien hunter in the Central American jungle. The structural commitment to letting the first-half-as-action-film, second-half-as-horror-survival shift be the actual subject, and Stan Winston's canonical creature design, established Predator as the canonical 1980s action-horror hybrid.

A separate signal · outside data
Critics and audiences disagree on this one
Critics (Metacritic)47/100
Audiences (IMDb)78/100

Audiences rate it well above critics here, a 31-point gap. A notable split like this usually flags something worth knowing going in: a divisive ending, a polarizing style, or controversial material. This is outside context from IMDb and Metacritic, not part of the TVI Score, which measures cognitive value on our own published methodology.
