The video summarizes the American Academy of Pediatrics' long-standing age-and-time baseline. The AAP's 2026 policy moves beyond simple time limits and asks families to consider content, context, conversation, the individual child, and what media crowds out. That makes the distinction in this video more important: attention is not proof of quality. The World Health Organization still advises no more than one hour of sedentary screen time for ages 2 through 4, with less being better.

Three-year-olds doing multiplication. Five-year-olds testing into second-grade-level math. We have had hundreds of parents telling us the same wild story, and they all want to give credit to this one show.
The question we keep getting flooded with is simple: what age is actually right to start this show? I am a school psychologist who reviews kids shows for developmental value, and today we are breaking down exactly when and why Numberblocks works.
Here is the baseline information. Hold off on screens until about 18 to 24 months, then keep it to about an hour a day of high-quality content for ages 2 to 5. These things are true no matter what show you are watching, but here is what most people miss.
Attention being held is not automatically a good sign. It matters what is holding it. A show like Numberblocks earns that attention through actual teaching, through things like pattern logic and genuine number sense. You can see how that is very different from a show that holds attention through super-fast cuts and pure sensory stimulation.
Once your child is old enough for screens, Numberblocks is one of the strongest choices you can make. Not because it is flashy, but because it teaches something real in a format that young brains can actually learn.
