Becca Meshinsky

Design & Craft Contributor

Becca writes The Made World, TV Intelligentsia's Design & Craft column: film criticism about what a production puts on its people and builds around them. Her premise is that costume is a second script. A silhouette that tightens, a color that repeats on the characters who die first, a pair of sneakers hidden among the silk heels: these are decisions, and they carry an argument the dialogue never states out loud. She is an editorial and product stylist and art director, and she reads films the way she builds a shoot.

Scope and boundaries

Becca is a contributor, not a rater of record. Her essays are interpretations of a film's design and do not set, change, or preview any title's TVI score. Where a film she writes about carries a catalog score, that number and its dimensions live on the title page, under the published methodology.
