The TVI Take
Danny Boyle and Alex Garland return to the rage-virus world with a memento-mori structure disguised as a horror sequel: an island community that has ritualized survival, a boy's first trip to the mainland, and a bone temple that reframes the whole franchise as being about how the living metabolize death. Boyle's kinetic, mixed-format shooting keeps the ideas moving faster than the exposition, and the film's willingness to sit with grief is the reason its craft score outruns its middling aggregate reviews.
