How we stay independent. Editorial scores are not for sale. TVI may take on paid advisory or research work, but no commercial relationship buys coverage, advance access to scores, favorable treatment, or a change to a published finding. We pay for our own streaming subscriptions, and no reviewer sees sponsor data or affiliate revenue tied to a score. More about how we work →

The TVI Take

Paramount's animated return is at its best in motion. The airbending sequences, particularly the set pieces where benders work in concert, are the most inventive the franchise has staged.

The writing does not keep pace: Zuko is barely present, Toph is reduced to a punchline, and the cabbage merchant callback is worked past affection. Sacrifice and letting go of what you want for something larger are raised, then left where the series would have developed them.
