The TVI Take
Tim Burton's 2024 sequel that mostly proved why the original was the achievement it was, the 1988 film's tonal register is unusually difficult to recapture, and Michael Keaton's title performance, while still committed, can't carry the structural weight the original had. Jenna Ortega does honest legacy-sequel work.
The film earns its IQ on craft and on Burton-aesthetic specificity rather than on script-level commitment.
