The TVI Take
Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin's threequel splits Gru across too many threads at once. The 80s-obsessed villain Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), armed with a keytar and Pharrell needle-drops, is the sharpest invention, while the long-lost-twin Dru subplot and a jailbreak Minions detour dilute the emotional focus that anchored the original.
Competent Illumination polish over diminishing returns.
