The TVI Take
Zhang Yimou's 2004 wuxia tracks a Tang Dynasty officer who falls for the blind dancer he's been ordered to infiltrate a rebel network through. The Echo Game scene, a dance solved as a sequence of struck drums, is a thesis statement: the film treats martial choreography as written language rather than spectacle.
The color logic (greens of bamboo, reds of blood, whites of snow) carries plot information; the climactic three-way fight resolves over a single seasonal cut.
