A boy seeks his absent father by becoming a Hunter. Yoshihiro Togashi's series is exceptional — each arc reinvents the genre it's operating in.
The Chimera Ant arc is the most formally ambitious in shonen anime. Educational about ethical philosophy (the costs of power, the nature of mercy). Exceptional character work.
