The TVI Take
Larry David and Jeff Schaffer turn the Curb engine on American history, with Higher Ground producing a sketch series that is sharpest when it lets a bit run long, as in the extended Lincoln piece critics singled out. The political satire is more pointed than the form is fresh, since much of it borrows the Curb playbook wholesale.
The 55 percent consensus reflects a hit-or-miss season where the strongest five or six sketches do real work and the rest coast on familiarity.
