The TVI Take
Pete Docter's Pixar feature is the studio's most direct engagement with jazz musicianship and vocational meaning. The afterlife-as-bureaucracy conceit doubles as theological inquiry into what 'purpose' actually means; the Jon Batiste piano sequences are genuine jazz performance rather than animated approximation.
The premise, that arrival at the dream may not be the meaning, is more philosophical than the trailer suggested.
