The TVI Take
A misdelivered Mumbai dabba initiates a correspondence between a soon-to-retire widower (Irrfan Khan) and a neglected housewife (Nimrat Kaur). Ritesh Batra's debut works as both a romance and a documentary of the city's lunchbox-delivery system, the dabbawalas have a Six Sigma error rate, which is why a single mistake becomes a story.
The film resists the climactic meeting the genre demands; the relationship is the writing, not the meeting.
