The TVI Take

Emmy winner for Outstanding Comedy (1988). Coming-of-age in suburban America during the Vietnam era, narrated by the adult Kevin Arnold.

Moderate cognitive demands from the nostalgic framing and period commentary. Educational value from the late-1960s cultural context, the show smuggled social history into a family comedy. Fred Savage's performance remains remarkably naturalistic.
