The TVI Take
J.J. Abrams' second Kelvin-timeline entry trades the 2009 reboot's discovery for a Wrath of Khan retread, mirroring the original's reactor-chamber death down to Spock's scream.
Cumberbatch's coiled John Harrison and Michael Giacchino's score carry real craft, and the Starfleet-militarization allegory gestures at post-drone-strike anxiety, but the recycled climax keeps it firmly a polished blockbuster rather than a thinking one.
