The TVI Take

Alex Kurtzman and showrunner Terry Matalas built this as a retirement-era coda to Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard, and Stewart's willingness to play regret and mortality is the show's real asset. The three seasons are wildly uneven: the synthetic-life arc and the muddled Borg-Queen season strain under serialized plotting, while the third season's TNG-crew reunion aboard the Titan lands as the earned send-off the premise always promised.

Competent, carried more by performance and legacy than by consistent writing.
