The TVI Take
The weakest of the TOS run. Shatner's direction chases a metaphysical premise, Sybok hijacking the Enterprise to meet God at the galaxy's core, then deflates it with a hollow reveal.
A post-strike budget stripped ILM off the effects, and the pacing sags. What survives is the Kirk-Spock-McCoy campfire warmth and one real idea: Kirk refusing to let Sybok take his pain because "I need my pain.".
