The TVI Take
Andrew Davis's 1993 adaptation of the TV series, with Harrison Ford as Dr. Richard Kimble running from Tommy Lee Jones's relentless Deputy Marshal Sam Gerard.
The film earns its Best Picture nomination through the practical train-and-bus crash and Jones's Oscar-winning turn, but the deeper achievement is structural: it lets the viewer run the deductive investigation into the one-armed man and the pharmaceutical cover-up in parallel with both hunter and hunted. The benchmark smart-thriller.
