The TVI Take
Andy Wolton's Apple TV+ comedy about Nikki and Jason closes its run by trading the adoption-anxiety engine of the early seasons for the harder question of who a family becomes once the crisis passes. The show earns its cognitive credit through emotional reasoning rather than plot: it stages the small negotiations of parenting and marriage with unusual precision, and Esther Smith and Rafe Spall play ambivalence without ever signaling it for the audience.
Warmth is the craft here, not the decoration.
