Most recommendation lists for a tired evening quietly assume you want something worse. That is the wrong trade. What a tired viewer needs is not lower quality, it is lower demand: something made with real care that does not require you to hold six plot threads in your head at eleven at night.
TV Intelligentsia scores those two things separately, which is why this list can exist. Craft & Quality measures how well a thing is made. Cognitive Stimulation measures how hard it makes you work. Everything below scores at least 34 out of 50 on the first and no more than 40 out of 50 on the second, and horror, war and true crime are excluded outright because being undemanding is not the same as being gentle.

Does undemanding mean low quality?
No, and conflating them is the common error. A sitcom built with real precision can score higher on Craft and Quality than a demanding drama scores on anything. The two dimensions are measured independently on the published rubric, so a title can be genuinely well made and genuinely easy at the same time.
Why are there no horror or war titles on this list?
Low cognitive demand is not the same as gentle. A film can ask very little of you intellectually and still leave you wrecked, so horror, war and true crime are excluded from this ranking by category rather than by score.
