The short version: Avengers: Doomsday has not been rated by the MPA yet. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were both rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence, action and language, and so was this summer's Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Doomsday opens December 18, 2026, and is reported to run about two hours and 45 minutes. We have not seen or scored it, and we do not guess at numbers, so this page is what a careful reviewer can tell you today. It will be updated when the rating is published.
What the last Avengers films were rated for
- Avengers: Infinity War (2018) was rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, language and some crude references. Avengers: Endgame (2019) was rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and some language. Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), the most recent Marvel film, was rated PG-13 for sequences of action/violence and some language.
- Avengers: Doomsday has no MPA rating yet. Some ticketing sites show PG-13 as a placeholder, but no rating has been published, so treat any listing as unconfirmed.
The story, the length and the cast
- Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Infinity War and Endgame, direct. Robert Downey Jr., who played Iron Man, returns as the villain, Doctor Doom, and Marvel's own teaser confirms Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers. The cast also brings in the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts and actors from the original X-Men films.
- The Hollywood Reporter reported a runtime of 165 minutes, which could still change slightly before release. For younger children, the length may matter more than anything in the rating.
- If your child is coming to it fresh, Disney+ has a Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday collection of fifteen films and series, from X-Men (2000) to The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
What we can say now, and what we cannot yet
- What we can say: the ratings of the earlier films and what they named, the reported runtime, who made it and who is in it.
- What we cannot say yet: the rating, how intense the action is on screen, an age-fit band, or a TVI Score. Those come from the ratings board and from watching and judging the film, and we will not assert what we have not seen.
- This page upgrades in place when the rating is published and our scored review is ready.
Ask before you decide
Three questions do most of the work before you decide.
- How did your child handle Infinity War and Endgame? Those are the closest guide to what an Avengers film at this scale feels like.
- Can your child sit through about two hours and 45 minutes? That is longer than most films children see in a theater.
- Does your child know the characters? A child who has followed the films will follow the story; one who has not may find it a lot of people and worlds at once.
